Danna Creager (she/they)
As a dancer, Danna’s main creative inspiration draws from emotions, trauma, and the world surrounding them, using movement to process the both traumatic and awe-inspiring human experience. She utilizes collaborative choreographic techniques and practices of informed consent for challenging movement as well as movement involving physical touch. Danna’s priority is to tell a story or convey emotion while drawing upon each participating dancer’s individual strengths, preferences, and curiosities.
Danna began dancing at the age of 2.5, taking a variety of classes at first Lynn Vogen Dance Studio and then Clifton Dance Project in Huntington Beach. There, Danna took ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, and hip hop classes and participated in various jazz and hip hop performance and competition ensembles. For all four years of high school, Danna trained at the Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) at Huntington Beach High School and performed on Hip Hop Dance Team, Jazz Ensemble, Modern Ensemble, and Repertory Ensemble. Since moving to New York City, Danna has performed with Continuum Dance Co., DanceWorks New York City, and in other projects and showcases, including Flair Dance Festival, Chutzpah Dance presents MOVEMENT, and Nacre Dance Group's SYTYCC. They've choreographed for both stage and film with works being shown in the 2023 & 2024 ODDFEST Film Festival, NACHMOx: Out Loud, Spoke the Hub's 2024 Winter Follies, New Wave Dance Festival, and the Seventh Midnight Performance - Pride Month Celebration.
